Shannon Dalton Death : Shannon Dalton, 41, of Bethalto, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2024, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. A daughter, sister, and friend, Shannon was known for her compassionate heart, radiant smile, and vibrant personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. Born on March 10, 1983, in Alton, Illinois, to Thomas and Annette (Stewart) Dalton, Shannon spent her life in Bethalto, where she built lasting friendships and embraced her community as her extended family. Her warmth and infectious laughter made everyone around her feel welcome, valued, and loved.
Shannon graduated from Bethalto Community High School, where she was an active participant in various school activities. She excelled academically and developed a passion for art that would remain a central part of her life. Through her artwork, Shannon expressed a deep creativity that left a lasting impression on all who experienced it, capturing the beauty of the world in ways that were uniquely her own.
After high school, Shannon pursued a degree in business at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), where she graduated with honors. She went on to build a successful career in the local business community, ultimately finding her true calling at Dalton & Sons Insurance Agency. Known for her exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, and positive attitude, Shannon earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and clients alike.
However, it was Shannon’s relationships with family and friends that defined her. Above all, she was a devoted daughter and sister, with a special bond with her parents and her younger brother, Ryan, who was a constant source of love and support. Shannon was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, who adored spending time with their “fun” Aunt Shannon. Her vast circle of friends was a testament to her generosity and kindness, and she had a unique ability to make each person feel seen, heard, and valued.
Shannon’s heart was always open to those around her. Whether in times of joy or crisis, she was a friend who showed up, offering a listening ear, words of encouragement, or a comforting presence. Outside of work, Shannon found peace in nature, enjoying hiking, walking in the woods, and tending to her beautiful garden. She was also an avid traveler, eager to explore new places and cultures with curiosity and an infectious sense of adventure.
Shannon’s resilience in the face of life’s challenges was remarkable. Even during difficult times, she maintained a positive outlook that inspired all who knew her. Her deep faith in humanity and belief in the power of kindness were evident in everything she did. Shannon’s ability to remain hopeful and compassionate, no matter the circumstances, was a testament to her inner strength and unwavering belief in the goodness of people.
Shannon is survived by her parents, Thomas and Annette Dalton; her brother, Ryan Dalton of Bethalto; her nieces, Harper and Grace Dalton; her nephews, Owen and Elijah Dalton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Linda Stewart, and her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Dalton. While Shannon’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of love, joy, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to call her a friend.
Her beautiful soul will never be forgotten, and the impact she made on the world will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with interment following at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Shannon’s name to a charity that supports mental health awareness—an issue that was close to her heart.
